After 16 years as Editor in Chief of Annals of
Hepatology, Prof. Nahum Méndez-Sánchez
will step down by the end of March 2018. Dr. Arturo Panduro, current member of our Editorial
Board, will succeed him effective April 2018. Manuscripts received after April 1st will be
managed by Dr. Panduro in his capacity as new Editor in Chief. Dr. Panduro, a distinguished
researcher of the Mexican National Council for Science and Technology and longtime contributor
of Annals of Hepatology, will be assisted by a group of associate editors initially consisting
of Dr. Claudio Tiribelli, Dr. Norberto C. Chávez-Tapia, Dr. Marco Arrese and myself.
As President of Medica Sur Clinical Foundation, sponsor of Annals of
Hepatology since its inception, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Founding Editor, Prof.
Nahum Méndez-Sánchez, for his vision, dedication, and leadership, all of
which have been fundamental for the Journal to become what it is today: one of the most
prestigious journals in Latin America and of great influence in hepatology worldwide.
Under the leadership of Dr. Panduro, the Foundation will enhance its support of Annals of
Hepatology and sthrengthen its ties with the Mexican Association of Hepatology, the Latin
American Association for the Study of the Liver, and the Canadian Association for the
Study of the Liver to better serve the medical and academic communities, providing
researchers and scientists with the opportunity to publish and explore major
developments in the study of the liver structure, function and disease, both in human
and pre-clinical models. In the next few months we will reach out to the members of the
Editorial Board and Associate Editors to participate, with their experience, in the
development of a new phase of the journal to be better prepared for the new challenges
in the dissemination of knowledge for the advancement in the study of the liver.
